My name is Raquel, but my friends call me Rocky! I'm a Jesus lover, a wife to an amazing husband, and a mother to two beautiful daughters. I'm a full-time mom and makeup artist, and Vice President of an anti-trafficking non-profit organization. I love socializing, meeting new people, trying new foods, and going on road trips. I love being active and the outdoors. I'm a sucker for all "documentaries" and anything historical.
I have ALWAYS been creative. I love to color, draw, and paint. Art is my jam. Growing up I was told being an artist would not be a sustainable living. Even though I had given up on my dreams of being an artist, my passion was reignited in 2007 when I was given an opportunity to work as a makeup artist at MAC Cosmetics. I quickly realized that the beauty industry was full of infinite possibilities and was the perfect avenue for my artistic creativity.
Brides, Rocky has got some AMAZING wedding makeup prep advice, so start taking notes (and don't forget to check out her promo discount at the bottom)!!!
I strongly recommend doing a wedding makeup trial. This allows opportunity to really see if your desired look is something you want. It also allows back and forth critique to help the makeup artist create the perfect look for you!
In preparation before the wedding day... exfoliate. It is important to get rid of any dry skin. Ideally, two to three days before the wedding. I would book a dermaplaning facial if your esthetician recommends it. It's important to get rid of the dead skin and any extra fuzz off the face. This helps the makeup lay smooth and not have any texture. Be sure to exfoliate the lips and do an overnight lip mask as well.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! When you think your face is too hydrated, hydrate some more! Hyaluronic acid and facial serums are your friend! On the night before the Big Day, lay a warm to hot towel on the face, then soak in an overnight hydrating mask for your face.
